Dadi**: "Guddu, have you heard of the Meenakshi Temple in Madurai?"

Guddu**: "The huge temple with thousands of sculptures?"

Dadi**: "Yes! But do you know why the goddess there has fish-shaped eyes?"

Guddu**: "Fish eyes? That's unusual!"

Dadi**: "Her story is extraordinary. Long ago, King Malayadwaja Pandyan and Queen Kanchanamalai had no children. They performed a great fire sacrifice, praying for a son to rule after them."

Guddu**: "Did they get a son?"

Dadi**: "No! From the sacred flames emerged a three-year-old girl - and she had three breasts! The priest said, 'Don't worry. When she meets her future husband, the third breast will disappear.'"

Guddu**: "That's strange!"

Dadi**: "They named her Tadaatagai, meaning 'beyond compare.' Despite being a girl, she was taught everything a prince would learn - military strategy, Vedas, martial arts. She became a fierce warrior!"

Guddu**: "A warrior princess!"

Dadi**: "When she grew up, she conquered all surrounding kingdoms - north, south, east, west. Even Indra, king of gods, paid tribute to her! Then she marched toward Mount Kailash to challenge Lord Shiva himself."

Guddu**: "She wanted to fight Shiva?!"

Dadi**: "Her army was confident. No one had defeated them. But when Tadaatagai saw Lord Shiva step forward to meet her challenge, something magical happened."

Guddu**: "What?"

Dadi**: "Her fierce warrior's heart melted. Her third breast vanished! She immediately knew - this was the one the prophecy foretold. The conqueror of kingdoms had met the lord of her heart."

Guddu**: "She fell in love!"

Dadi**: "Shiva took her as his wife. She became Meenakshi - 'the one with fish-shaped eyes' - because her eyes were beautiful like carp fish. Shiva took the name Sundareshwara - 'the handsome lord.'"

Guddu**: "Why fish-shaped?"

Dadi**: "In Indian poetry, fish eyes are a symbol of beauty - wide, bright, always watchful. But there's deeper meaning. Fish never close their eyes, even in sleep. Meenakshi, as goddess, is always watching over her devotees."

Guddu**: "She never stops seeing!"

Dadi**: "They were married in a grand celestial wedding. All the gods attended. They came to Madurai to rule together - Meenakshi as queen, Sundareshwara as her consort."

Guddu**: "The goddess ruled as queen?"

Dadi**: "Yes! In the Madurai temple even today, the main deity is Meenakshi, not Shiva. The temple is her home, and Sundareshwara is her husband who resides with her."

Guddu**: "That's different from other temples!"

Dadi**: "It shows the power of the feminine divine. Meenakshi conquered the world with strength, then conquered hearts with love. She proves that being a woman is no limitation - she defeated armies AND won Shiva!"

Guddu**: "She was strong and loving."

Dadi**: "The complete goddess. Her festival, Chithirai, celebrates her wedding and draws millions. The temple itself has 33,000 sculptures! Every carving tells part of her story."

Guddu**: "I want to see it someday!"

Dadi**: "We will go. And when you see those fish-shaped eyes looking at you from the idol, remember - this is a goddess who was warrior, queen, wife, and protector. She's still watching over Madurai with those never-closing eyes."

Guddu**: "Fish eyes that never sleep, protecting everyone."

Dadi**: "Beautiful, isn't it? Now close YOUR eyes. Meenakshi will watch while you sleep."
