Dadi: "Guddu beta, have you heard of Varanasi? Some people call it Kashi, the City of Light."

Guddu: "Isn't that where people go to see the Ganga, Dadi?"

Dadi: "Yes, beta! But it's so much more. It's one of the oldest cities in the world, and it has a magical secret - it was created by Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati themselves!"

Guddu: "Shiva made a city?"

Dadi: "According to the ancient Skanda Purana, Kashi originally existed in the heavens! Only great yogis and holy sages could see it. But Shiva and Parvati loved this place so much that they brought it down to earth."

Guddu: "Why did they bring it here?"

Dadi: "To help us, beta! They wanted to create a sacred place where people could wash away their sins and find peace. And here's something amazing - even when the whole universe is destroyed during the great cosmic dissolution, Kashi never disappears!"

Guddu: "Never? How is that possible?"

Dadi: "Because Lord Shiva holds it up on his trident! That's why it's called "Avimukta Kshetra" - the place that is never abandoned. While everything else dissolves, Kashi remains safe on Shiva's trishul."

Guddu: "That's so cool! What makes it so special?"

Dadi: "So many things, beta! The holy Ganga river flows through it. There's a sacred pool called Manikarnika - do you know how it was made? Lord Vishnu was meditating so intensely that sweat formed on his body, creating a pool. And Shiva's ear-ring fell into that pool!"

Guddu: "Shiva dropped his earring?"

Dadi: "(laughing) The stories say it fell during his cosmic dance. That's why it's called Manikarnika - "Mani" means jewel, "Karnika" means ear-ring. People believe that anyone who passes away at this spot goes directly to heaven!"

Guddu: "Dadi, how many names does Kashi have?"

Dadi: "Twelve main names, beta! Each tells us something special. Kashi means "City of Light." Varanasi comes from two rivers - Varuna and Asi. Anandkaanana means "Forest of Bliss." Rudraavaasa means "Abode of Shiva.""

Guddu: "So many names for one city!"

Dadi: "Because there are so many ways to experience its magic! Do you know what Lord Shiva himself says about Kashi in the scriptures?"

Guddu: "What?"

Dadi: "He says, "The three worlds form one city of mine, and Kashi is my royal palace therein." Imagine - if the whole universe is Shiva's city, Kashi is his home!"

Guddu: "Why does the Ganga flow through it?"

Dadi: "The Ganga purifies everything she touches, beta. The scriptures say that bathing in the Ganga at Kashi is equal to bathing in all the sacred rivers combined! It's like taking all the good medicine at once."

Guddu: "I want to go there someday, Dadi!"

Dadi: "You should, beta. People have been going there for thousands of years. Scholars, saints, artists, and ordinary people like us - all seeking something."

Guddu: "What are they seeking?"

Dadi: "Different things. Some seek knowledge - the great universities of ancient India were there. Some seek healing - for body and soul. Some seek connection with God. And some just seek peace."

Guddu: "Can kids go too?"

Dadi: "Of course! Children often go with their families for blessings. You can watch the beautiful Ganga Aarti at sunset, when priests wave giant flames while thousands of lamps float on the river. It's like seeing stars on the water!"

Guddu: "Dadi, if Shiva lives in Kashi, does he ever leave?"

Dadi: "That's a story for another night, beta - how once Shiva did leave, and the gods had to convince him to come back! But tonight, just remember: there are places on earth that heaven touches, and Kashi is one of them."

Guddu: "Like a bridge between earth and heaven?"

Dadi: "Exactly, my wise boy! Now sleep, and may the light of Kashi bless your dreams!"
