Varaha Avatar - Boar Rescues Earth
— Vishnu Purana, Book I, Chapter IV; Varaha Purana —
Dadi: "Guddu, do you want to hear more details about Vamana and King Bali? The full story is even more beautiful."
Guddu: "Yes, Dadi! Tell me everything!"
Dadi: "It all started after the churning of the ocean. Remember that story? Well, afterward, the demons and gods kept fighting. The demon king Bali was killed in one battle."
Guddu: "But we just talked about Bali being alive?"
Dadi: "His guru Shukracharya used sacred mantras to bring him back to life! Resurrected and even more powerful, Bali defeated the gods and conquered heaven."
Guddu: "The gods lost their home?"
Dadi: "Yes! They went hiding in caves and forests. Aditi, the mother of the gods, was heartbroken. She performed severe penance, and Lord Vishnu appeared before her."
Guddu: "What did she ask?"
Dadi: ""Save my sons! Restore their kingdom!" Vishnu promised to be born as her son and solve the problem. And so Vamana was born."
Guddu: "How was he as a baby?"
Dadi: "He had four arms at birth! But immediately transformed into a small dwarf brahmin boy, ready for his mission."
Guddu: "He didn't waste time!"
Dadi: "When Vamana arrived at Bali's sacrifice, his radiance was extraordinary. It lit up the entire arena! Bali himself washed the boy's feet and offered him a seat of honor."
Guddu: "Bali was very respectful."
Dadi: "He said, "Ask for anything! Gold, houses, beautiful girls for marriage, horses, elephants, entire villages or kingdoms - I can give you anything!""
Guddu: "And Vamana asked for just three steps?"
Dadi: ""I am a simple brahmin with simple needs," Vamana said. Bali tried to convince him to ask for more, but Vamana refused."
Guddu: "Then Shukracharya warned him?"
Dadi: "Yes! "This is Vishnu in disguise! He will take everything from you!" But Bali's reply was noble: "Even if this is Lord Vishnu himself, I consider it my great fortune to give to Him.""
Guddu: "That's so brave!"
Dadi: "Shukracharya even blocked Bali's water pot to prevent the gift! But Vamana used a blade of kusha grass to clear the blockage - and blinded Shukracharya in one eye in the process."
Guddu: "Ouch!"
Dadi: "When the water was poured and Vamana grew cosmic, something beautiful happened at his second step. His foot broke through the shell of the universe, and water from the Causal Ocean leaked in."
Guddu: "What water was that?"
Dadi: "It flowed down and became the river Ganges! That's why the Ganga is sacred - it was born from touching the Lord's foot and purified by Brahma's prayers."
Guddu: "The Ganga came from Vishnu's foot?"
Dadi: "Yes! And when Bali offered his head for the third step, Vishnu didn't push him down in anger. He gently placed his foot on Bali's head and blessed him."
Guddu: "What were the blessings?"
Dadi: "Bali became lord of Sutala - more beautiful than heaven. Vishnu promised to personally guard his palace door. And in the next age, Bali will become Indra - king of the gods!"
Guddu: "The demon will become king of gods?"
Dadi: "That's divine grace, beta. Your past doesn't determine your future. Bali proved that a generous heart is worth more than any title or power."
