Krishna Shows Universe in His Mouth

Dadi: "Guddu beta, do you know what Mother Yashoda once saw inside Krishna's mouth?"

Guddu: "What? Did he eat something bad?"

Dadi: "The other children told her Krishna had eaten dirt! They came running to Yashoda saying, "Krishna has been eating mud!""

Guddu: "Naughty Krishna! What did Yashoda do?"

Dadi: "She took little Krishna by the hand and scolded him gently. "Why would you eat dirt? That's not good for you!""

Guddu: "What did Krishna say?"

Dadi: "He protested! "Mother, I did NOT eat dirt. My friends are lying! They're just angry because we had a fight this morning. They're trying to get me in trouble!""

Guddu: "Ha! He tried to blame his friends!"

Dadi: "Yashoda wasn't convinced. She said, "If you didn't eat dirt, then open your mouth and let me see.""

Guddu: "Caught!"

Dadi: "(mysteriously) But what she saw wasn't dirt, beta. It was... everything."

Guddu: "Everything? What do you mean?"

Dadi: "When little Krishna opened his mouth wide, Yashoda gasped. Inside her child's tiny mouth, she saw the entire universe! The sun, moon, and stars were there. Planets spinning in space. The earth with its mountains, rivers, and oceans."

Guddu: "The whole earth fit in his mouth?!"

Dadi: "Not just the earth! She saw all three worlds - heaven, earth, and the underworld. She saw animals, humans, gods, demons. She saw galaxies we haven't even discovered yet!"

Guddu: "That's impossible!"

Dadi: "Most amazingly, beta, she saw herself. She saw Vrindavan. She saw herself standing there looking into Krishna's mouth!"

Guddu: "She saw herself inside her son's mouth?!"

Dadi: "Time and space collapsed. Inside was outside. Outside was inside. Yashoda realized she was looking at something beyond understanding - her little baby boy contained the entire universe within him!"

Guddu: "She must have been terrified!"

Dadi: "For a moment, she understood - this was no ordinary child. This was God himself, playing the role of her son. The whole creation existed within him, yet he also existed within creation."

Guddu: "What did she do?"

Dadi: "Here's the beautiful part, beta. Krishna didn't want Yashoda to worship him. He wanted her to love him - as a mother loves her child. So he used his divine power to make her forget."

Guddu: "He erased her memory?"

Dadi: "The cosmic vision faded. Yashoda blinked, and suddenly she was just looking at her sweet, mischievous baby again. The whole universe shrunk back into a little boy's giggling face."

Guddu: "Why would Krishna hide his true self?"

Dadi: "Because divine play - lila - requires different relationships. Yashoda's job wasn't to pray to Krishna. Her job was to scold him for eating dirt, to feed him butter, to sing him lullabies. If she knew he was God, could she do that?"

Guddu: "I guess it would be weird to scold God..."

Dadi: "Exactly! Krishna wanted to experience a mother's pure, natural love. Not worship, not reverence - just the simple love a mother has for her naughty child. That love, in its own way, is also worship."

Guddu: "So she forgot seeing the universe?"

Dadi: "She went back to being his mother. She wiped his mouth, probably gave him some water, and went on with her day. The secret of the universe lived inside a village kitchen."

Guddu: "That story is so strange and beautiful at the same time."

Dadi: "It teaches us that God is everywhere - in everything, containing everything. But God also plays, also loves, also allows us to forget, so we can have genuine relationships instead of just scared worship."

Guddu: "So Yashoda's love was special because she didn't know?"

Dadi: "Her love was pure BECAUSE it was simple. She loved her son, not a cosmic deity. And Krishna treasured that simple love above all the prayers of sages. Sometimes the purest spiritual connection is the most ordinary-seeming."

Guddu: "Goodnight, Dadi. I'll dream about universes inside mouths!"

Dadi: "(laughing) Sweet dreams, beta. And remember - the infinite hides in the tiniest places!"
