Hanuman Meets Sita - The Moment Everything Changed (Bhakti Yoga)

Ramayana - Sundara Kanda

✦ ✦ ✦

Dadi: "Guddu, imagine searching for someone all night in a strange city, beginning to lose hope... and then finally finding them."

Guddu: "That must feel amazing!"

Dadi: "That was Hanuman in Lanka. He had searched through golden towers, pleasure gardens, demon palaces. He had seen Ravana sleeping among his queens. But no Sita."

Guddu: "Did he give up?"

Dadi: "Despair began to creep in. Had she died? Should he return to Rama empty-handed? But then he thought - "I have not searched everywhere. There is still the Ashoka grove.""

Guddu: "Was she there?"

Dadi: "*nods* Under a shimshapa tree, surrounded by demonesses who guarded her day and night. She was thin, worn, dressed in the same clothes from the day she was taken - refusing all gifts from Ravana. Her face was pale from months of grief."

Guddu: "She must have been so sad."

Dadi: "Heartbroken. But she was alive. Hanuman's heart leaped! He wanted to rush down immediately. But he stopped himself."

Guddu: "Why wait?"

Dadi: "He was thinking clearly. "If I appear suddenly, she may cry out in fear. The demonesses will be alerted." So he waited, hidden in the leaves. And he watched something difficult."

Guddu: "What?"

Dadi: "Ravana himself came to pressure Sita. "Your Rama cannot reach you. No one can cross the ocean. Become my queen. I offer you the world." And Sita replied, "You offer me a prison. I would rather die than accept you.""

Guddu: "Sita was so brave!"

Dadi: "Ravana gave her two months. Then he left, and the demonesses renewed their threats. Sita wept alone. That's when Hanuman began to sing."

Guddu: "Sing?"

Dadi: "Softly, from the trees above - about Rama. He sang of Rama's birth, his virtues, his marriage to Sita. He sang of the exile, the search across the ocean."

Guddu: "So Sita would know a friend was near!"

Dadi: "She looked up, astonished. These words could only come from someone who truly knew Rama. "Who is there?" she called. Hanuman descended, small and humble, bowing before her."

Guddu: "Did she believe him?"

Dadi: "Not at first. "How do I know you're not a demon trick? Ravana has many forms." So Hanuman showed her Rama's ring - the one Rama had given him as proof."

Guddu: "Did she recognize it?"

Dadi: "Instantly. She wept with joy. "He remembers me. He is coming. I thought perhaps... after so long... he might have forgotten.""

Guddu: "As if Rama could forget!"

Dadi: "That's exactly what Hanuman said. "Forgotten? Mother, he thinks of nothing else. He barely sleeps. He barely eats. I have seen gods and kings, but I have never seen love like Rama's love for you.""

Guddu: "What did Sita give Hanuman to take back?"

Dadi: "The only thing she had left - the chudamani, a jewel she'd worn since her wedding, hidden in her hair. "Give this to Rama. He will know it.""

Guddu: "Did Hanuman offer to carry her back?"

Dadi: "*smiles* He did! "Mother, let me carry you on my shoulders. Why wait for an army when I can take you now?" But Sita's answer was wise."

Guddu: "What did she say?"

Dadi: ""That would rob Rama of his purpose. He must come himself, defeat Ravana, reclaim me through his own valor. If you simply carry me away, Ravana's insult goes unanswered. Rama's honor requires that he do this himself.""

Guddu: "She was protecting Rama's honor!"

Dadi: "And teaching Hanuman something important - it's not enough to solve a problem. It must be solved the RIGHT way. The deeper service is not just meeting the immediate need, but understanding the larger purpose."

Guddu: "What did Sita ask Hanuman to tell Rama?"

Dadi: "*softly* "Just tell him: I am waiting. I have always been waiting. I will wait as long as it takes.""

Guddu: "That's so beautiful and sad."

Dadi: "Hanuman carried those words across the ocean, along with the jewel. This small meeting in a garden - no battles, no flames - may be the most important moment in the entire Ramayana. Hope was restored. Sita learned she was not forgotten."

Guddu: "And Hanuman proved devotion isn't just about power."

Dadi: "Exactly. He could have grabbed her and run. He chose to let Rama be Rama. That restraint - that understanding - that's the deeper seva. Now rest, my thoughtful one."

Guddu: "Goodnight, Dadi. I'll remember Sita's patience."
