Viveka
Discrimination between real and unreal
đUnderstanding Viveka
Viveka is the faculty of discernment that allows us to distinguish between what is eternal and what is temporary, between the real and the unreal, between the Self and the non-Self. It is the sharp clarity of mind that sees through appearances to understand the true nature of things. Without viveka, we mistake the fleeting pleasures of the world for lasting happiness and identify ourselves with our body and mind rather than with our eternal essence.
